Dr Despoina Mourtzoukou has graduated Athens Medical School with the Degree in Medicine, from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
She served as GP at the General Hospital and Healthcare Centre in the area of Kalamata for 15 months.
After completing her 5-year residency in Histopathology (4 years at Histopathology Department of the General Hospital of Athens “G. Gennimatas” and 1 year in Clinical Cytology Department of the General Hospital of Athens “Sismanoglio”) she got the Title of medical specialty in Histopathology in 2013.
For the next two years 2014-2016, she worked as SpR in London, UK, at the Histopathology Department of the Royal Marsden Hospital (19 months) and St George’s Hospital (5 months), where she broadened her knowledge in the specialty by working with experts and worldwide recognized Histopathologists; she got experience in up-to-date handling specimens of breast, head & neck, soft tissue, genitourinary - gynaecological system, skin, gastrointestinal system, including the necessary use of cytogenetic and molecular techniques for diagnostic and prognostic / therapeutic purposes.
Since May 2016 Despoina works as a Consultant Histopathologist at the Histopathology Lab “Istomedica”, having a special interest in breast, soft tissue, genitourinary – gynaecological system specimens.
In her CV there are included: 8 publications (6 in international papers), more than 30 poster / oral presentations / free papers, as well as attendance in more than 30 Medical Congresses and Seminars. In addition, she has taken part in 10 tuition / training programs, before, during and after her Residency, including those for the current use of molecular and cytogenetic techniques.
Finally, in London she has completed two clinical audits (soft tissue, breast) and one more is in progress (uterine soft tissue tumors).
Despoina has professional membership in the Medical Association of Athens, the Hellenic Society of Pathology and the General Medical Council (GMC, UK).
Doctor Aida Tsitlidou is a graduate of the Astana Medical University – State Medical Institute of the city Astana in Kazakhstan. The medical degree is recognized by the Hellenic NARIC.
The doctor continued with the specialization of Pathological Anatomy ( in Athens General Hospital G. Gennimatas and Athens General Hospital of chest disease – Sotiria ). The speciality was received in 2014. Since November 2014, the doctor has been working as a pathologist at Istomedica Pathological Laboratory.
Her CV includes publications, presentations, attendance at conferences, seminars and attendance in the continuing education and training programs.
She is a member of the Medical Association of Athens and the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce
Mrs Mourtzoukou Eleni, pathologist, is a graduate of the National and Kapodistian University of Athens and is employed at the Anatomic Pathology Lab Istomedica since July 2013.
She was employed as resident pathologist at the Red Cross Hospital for 4,5 years and as resident cytopathologist at Evangelismos Hospital for 1,5 year. She was trained at subspecialties of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology (General Hospital Asklipio Voula), Gynecologic Pathology (Hospital Elena Venizelou), Hematopathology (Evangelismos General Hospital), and Lung Pathology (Sotiria Hospital).
She was research fellow and participated at clinical activities of Andreas Sygros Hospital of Venereal and Dermatological Diseases for 1,5 year. She was employed at primary and tertiary health care system at Peloponese for 2 years as a clinician. She’s doing research in epidemiology/infectious diseases since 2009. Since 2002 she has participated in national and international conferences and journals with abstracts and papers.
She’s a member of the Athens Medical Association and the Hellenic Society of Pathology.
